Southwestern Community College District, Trustee Area 4
I believe education transforms lives. Every student deserves affordable, high-quality education, and the support to achieve their goals. As a first-generation college graduate, Southwestern College is where I began my post-secondary educational journey before earning my bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Today, I proudly serve as Assistant Principal in the Sweetwater Union High School District.
For 15 years, I have worked alongside students, families, and community partners to improve student achievement. I oversee education programs and budgets while building partnerships that expand opportunities for students. Every day, I work with the next generation of college students, giving me firsthand insight into the challenges they face. I mentor students to become leaders. In 2026, my mentee, the ASB President, helped establish a free resource center on campus for families in need, earning first-place recognition in a regional community service challenge.
For 20 years, I’ve served the South Bay as a volunteer mentor through programs like MANA, Hermanitas, Adelante Mujer, and other community organizations/programs.
As a Governing Board Member, I will advocate for policies that remove barriers to student success, ensure every student has the opportunity to achieve their educational aspirations, support faculty and staff, and maintain fiscal responsibility.
Expanding Access & Affordability
Remove barriers so students can afford college, complete their education, and pursue a degree, certificate, transfer, or career pathway.
Supporting Students, Faculty, & Staff
Listen to students, faculty, and staff to ensure they have the resources and support needed to succeed.
Responsible & Transparent Leadership
Make responsible budget decisions, and ensure the community has a voice in the future of Southwestern College.
